BRS' KT Rama Rao Slams Congress Over MLA Defection, Says Rahul Gandhi Does Oscar-Level Acting In Parliament

The Bharatiya Rashtriya Samiti (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao on Tuesday comes out all guns blazing to target at the Congress for encouraging unlawful defection of MLAs in Telangana. According to the reports, BRS is planning to approach the Supreme Court seeking disqualification of the defected MLAs.

Talking to the media, BRS president KT Rama Rao said that his party will expose Congress' hypocrisy and double standards. On one side, Rahul Gandhi talks about saving the constitution; on the other, his party encourages the unlawful defection of MLAs in Telangana.

"We have already submitted our petitions before the Telangana Assembly Speaker and the Telangana High Court, seeking disqualification of the defected MLAs. We will take further steps based on the outcome," said KTR.

He added that a strict law should be introduced against the unlawful defection and if needed he will approach President of India Droupadi Murmu, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and the Election Commission of India.

It was reported that BRS may gather support from like-minded parties against the Grand Old Party and BJP, who have been doing the horse-trading for decades to form and disturb governments.

Blaming Congress for all the dirty politics happening in India, The BRS working president said Congress introduced the 'Aayaram-Gayaram' culture in India, but the same party introduced the Anti-Defection Law in 1987. Once again, the Congress is encouraging defections in Telangana, in utter violation of the same Anti-Defection Law.

"The Congress has been making tall claims with respect to being the saviour and vanguard of the constitution. Rahul Gandhi who flaunts the Constitution of India before the media and makes huge cry over its violation by the BJP, were also responsible for its desecration," he added.

Rama Rao said Rahul Gandhi's party which cries foul play when BJP defects in MLAs in Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana, is doing the same in Telangana.

"Rahul Gandhi made Congress candidates in Goa to take oath against defecting to other parties. When Congress MLAs joined the BJP in Karnataka, Siddharamaiah claimed that the BJP purchased them for Rs 50 crore. Even in its manifesto, the Congress promised to amend the Schedule 10 of the constitution to ensure automatic disqualification of elected representatives upon defection," he reminded.

He further added that the leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi did an Oscar-level acting in the house by holding the Constitution in Parliament, and shortly welcomed BRS-defected MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy by shaking hands.

"What sort of hypocrisy is this?" KTR questioned.
