Bomb Threat At Hyderabad Begumpet Airport Triggers High Alert

A bomb threat sent via email to Hyderabad's Begumpet Airport triggered a high-alert response on Tuesday morning. An unidentified individual threatened to blow up the facility, prompting swift action by airport officials and law enforcement agencies.

Immediately after the email was received, authorities at Begumpet Airport alerted the police, who rushed bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs to the site. As a safety measure, security officials asked personnel to vacate their rooms before a full inspection began. A fire engine was also stationed at the airport as a precaution.

The entire airport premises were combed thoroughly by the bomb squad and security personnel. So far, no explosive materials have been reported. Meanwhile, the cybercrime division has launched an investigation to trace the origin of the threatening email, using the Internet Protocol (IP) address as a lead.

Begumpet Airport, which was once a hub for commercial flights, ceased such operations after the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad became operational on 23 March 2008. Since then, Begumpet has been utilized primarily for military operations, chartered flights, aviation training, and the transportation of relief materials during natural disasters.

An official statement on the outcome of the search and the status of the investigation is awaited as police continue their probe into the source of the threat.
