Asaduddin Owaisi Slams Centre for ‘Unfair Treatment’ of Telangana

AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has accused the BJP-led central government of not treating Telangana fairly when it comes to sanctioning projects and resources. Speaking on Saturday, he expressed his frustration, saying, "Despite having eight BJP MPs from Telangana, including some union ministers, justice is not being done to the state."

Owaisi emphasized that Telangana deserves the same treatment as other states. "Our only demand is parity-whatever is being allocated to other states should also be given to Telangana. Take IPS officers, for example. Kerala, Assam, Meghalaya, Punjab, and Jharkhand are all smaller than Telangana, yet they have more IPS officers. Telangana had requested an increase in the existing strength, but it hasn't been approved," he pointed out.

His remarks came after attending a meeting of Telangana MPs, organized by the state government to discuss unresolved issues with the Centre. The goal was to ensure MPs raise these concerns both in Parliament and directly with the central government. Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who convened the meeting, personally invited all MPs from the state, including union ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar.

Telangana's Long-Standing Demands

The Telangana government has been waiting for approvals and funding for several key projects, including the Hyderabad Metro expansion, Musi River redevelopment, and the Regional Ring Road (RRR).

CM Revanth Reddy recently alleged that union minister Kishan Reddy has been deliberately blocking these projects. According to him, Kishan Reddy is worried that if the projects go through, the Congress government will get the credit. However, Kishan Reddy has dismissed these claims, calling them baseless.

At the heart of the matter is Telangana's demand for equal treatment-something Owaisi and other state leaders continue to push for. Whether the Centre will respond remains to be seen.
