Is Nitish Kumar smelling an opportunity to become the next PM?
As the RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav was sentenced to five-year jail term in the 17-year-old fodder scam case yesterday by the CBI special court, at the same time, Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar may have also started giving a thought to his long-woven dream of becoming the prime minister of India.
It's a known fact that JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar has been eying for the post of PM from quite a long time, for that he even divorced his long-time coalition partner BJP, because his aversion for BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was very evident.

It can be said that the Lalu's sentencing has paved the way for Nitish Kumar grabbing the top post of the country's prime minister.
If Nitish Kumar manages to seek the Congress party's Vice-President Rahul Gandhi's blessings and if Congress wins the upcoming general elections, then there may high possibility of Nitish becoming the next prime minister.
In Bihar, there are total 40 Lok Sabha seats out of which 20 are occupied by the JD(U) (the fifth largest party in Lok Sabha with 20 seats out of total 545 LS seats).
Now, after Lalu's RJD is pushed out of equation, the JD(U) main rival is the BJP.
Although, NaMo's wave is flowing across the nation, but in Nitish Kumar's Bihar, only a dash of wind is blowing.
Before Modi's magic mesmerises the people of Bihar, Nitish has got the tough task of "hypnotizing" the people of his state, by his charm in order to gain in Lok Sabha elections 2014.
With an amiable personality and visible development work in ten years in Bihar, Nitish has already proved himself as one of the best chief ministers. So, it can be said that he is fit to sport a bigger role in the politics.
If all goes well, Nitish Kumar's dream of coming to power in Delhi can soon turn into a reality.
In the political parlance, there is a lot of power attached to the "10 Janpath", the official residence of the Congress party's president Sonia Gandhi, where all the powers of centre is concentrated.
As the nation's mood seems to be anti-Congress because of numerous cases of corruptions and scams, this is the time when the JD(U) and the Congress can mutually benefit each other.
Nitish Kumar hold high chances of becoming the next PM.
For that, Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) will have to make strong ties with the Congress. And if Congress manages to get good number of seats in North-East states, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttarkhand and Haryana, then with JD(U)'s support, the Congress can come to power for the third time, but the difference will be that the prime minister's chair will not be occupied by a Congress minister.
So, if UPA-3 becomes a reality, then Nitish Kumar holds high chances of becoming the next PM because so far, Rahul Gandhi does not seem to be ready to fit himself in the shoes of a prime minister.
Even if Nitish boards the ship of Congress before the general elections, then also the last word will be of the ship's captain, that is Rahul Gandhi....
