The protest march by MPs to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, led by Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had a single agenda-withdrawal of currency demonetisation. Calling the move unplanned, Bannerjee said that this was standing in the way of agricultural sector.

"West Bengal is bankrupt," she alleges. Others who joined the march included AAP members and NDA ally Shiv Sena members. A memorandum was submitted voicing serious concern over the crisis arising out of ban on Rs 1000 and Rs 500 currency notes.
