In 2013 Surat City West by elections, Purneshbhai Ishwarlal Modi defeated Congress party’s Dalpatbhai Laxman Bhai Patel by 66,292 votes.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Surat City West Assembly constituency for the Gujarat Assembly elections 2017 is Purneshbhai Ishwarlal Modi. Purneshbhai Ishwarlal Modi is the current MLA representing Surat City West Assembly constituency. In 2013 Surat City West by elections, Purneshbhai Ishwarlal Modi defeated Congress party's Dalpatbhai Laxman Bhai Patel by 66,292 votes.

Purneshbhai was born on October 22, 1965, in Surat. His father's name is Ishwarlal Modi. Purneshbhai is a graduate and hold an MA and LLB degrees. He was elected as the corporator of Surat Municipal Corporation in 2005 and became Surat BJP chief in 2010.
He has stated his profession as an advocate. According to myneta.info, Purneshbhai's assets are worth around Rs 1.5 crores and he has one criminal case against him.
