Congress candidate from Sarkaghat assembly seat in Himachal: Pawan Thakur
The Congress has fielded Pawan Thakur from Sarkaghat because Rangila Ram Rao lost elections to BJP candidate Inder Singh two times in 2007 and 2012. Pawan Thakur from Congress party has filed nomination papers from Sarkaghat constituency in Himachal Pradesh.

Pawan Thakur is considered close to Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur. Kaul Singh Thakur is the Health and Family Welfare minister in Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, serving Himachal Pradesh Assembly eighth time. He has also served as the Pradesh Congress President of Himachal for two times.
Sarkaghat is a town, a nagar panchayat and Tehsil in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. It is one of the 5 Urban Local Bodies in Mandi District. Sarkaghat Nagar Panchayat has total administration over 1,184 houses to which it supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.
It has population of 4,715 of which 2,522 are males while 2,193 are females as per report released by Census India 2011.
The current MLA is Inder Singh from Bharatiya Janata Party. He won the elections in 2012 by winning 26722 votes.
