Congress candidate from Chopal Assembly seat in Himachal: Subhash Manglate

The Congress party's candidate from Chopal Assembly Constituency for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections 2017 is Dr Subhash Manglate. In 2012 Himachal Pradesh Assembly polls, Manglate had lost to independent candidate Balbir Singh Verma by a slim margin of 647 votes.

This time Balbir Singh would be contesting on a BJP ticket. Manglate had from this seat in 2003 as an independent candidate and in 2007 on a Congress ticket.

Chopal constituency in Shimla district is poised for a lively electoral battle between sitting MLA Balbir Singh Verma, who has joined the BJP, and two-time MLA Subhash Manglate.

Dr Subhash Manglate is 45-years-old and a resident of Nerwa Tehsil in Shimla District.

He holds a doctorate from Punjab University.

According to myneta.info, he has assets worth over Rs 7 crore and has no criminal cases against him.
