BJP candidate from Chopal Assembly seat in Himachal: Balbir Singh Verma

The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP)'s candidate from Chopal Assembly Constituency for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections 2017 is Balbir Singh Verma.

Balbir Singh Verma is the current MLA representing Chopal Assembly Constituency and in 2012 Himachal pradesh polls he had contested as an independent candidate. Verma defeated Congress party's Dr Subhash Chand Manglate by 647 votes in 2012. The BJP last won this seat in 1990.

Balbir Singh Verma, who has been associated with the Congress for more than four years, merged his Chopal Vikas Manch with the BJP in March this year.

Balbir Singh Verma is 46-years-old and a resident of Theog Tehsil in Shimla District.

According to 2012 information in myneta.info, Verma has assets worth over Rs 41 crores and has no criminal cases against him.

He has stated his profession as a builder and contractor.
