3 Chhattisgarh villages had no high school. So villagers come together to build one own their own
Three villages of Chhattisgarh-- Navdabri, Lilva Pahad and Kishanpuri--have build a high school together recently.
Raipur, July 6: In many remote villages of the country still children are forced to walk several kilometers every day to go to school. Reason: most often these villages have no schools. So students either have to go to a school in a neighbouring area or stay at home. Thus education remains elusive to many of these rural children.
But three villages of Chhattisgarh-- Navdabri, Lilva Pahad and Kishanpuri--did not wait for the government authorities to build a high school for their children. The villagers from these three places came together and build a high school on their own at Narharpur--another village--which is equidistant from Navdabri, Lilva Pahad and Kishanpuri and convenient for the kids to reach too.
To build the school, the villagers spend Rs 5 lakh from their own pockets. The villagers not only generously donated money but they themselves constructed the school without engaging any labourers.

"Kanker: Villagers of Navdabri, Lilva Pahad & Kishanpuri, collected 5 lakh Rupees & constructed High School in Narharpur, which is convenient for students from all 3 villages. Middle school was elevated to High school in Navdabri last yr, but was never constructed. #Chhattisgarh," tweeted ANI.
Now, the school is ready and students have already started attending their classes.
The effort of the villagers has been appreciated by the government authorities and they have promised to help the people of the three villages to run the school smoothly.
The villagers say the high school will help to reduce dropouts as many students leave education midway because there was no high school in these villages till now.
The new school is the best gift children of these villages got from their elders.
