Mamata Banerjee stands tall in 2011
Mamata Banerjee toppled the left government, who ruled the roost for 34 years, as she took over the West Bengal government becoming the first woman chief minister from the state.

After becoming the Railway minister, she paved her way into winning the hearts of crores of people. Known for her sharp tongue, the maverick minister stands out in the crowd; be it in expressing her disappointment over the FDI retail issue or petrol price hike, the UPA government has always been seen in an attempt to woo its angry ally.
'Didi' as she is fondly called has sure made a difference in West Bengal by investing more in six districts for its development. Here is hoping that things will turn out for better for West Bengal with Mamata's leadership.
