Memogate scam rocks Pak; Hussain Haqqani resigns
Pakistan Ambassador to the United States Hussain Haqqani was forced to resign on Nov 22, 2011 over his suspected involvement in a memo handed over to the US.

The memogate scandal rocked the very base of Pakistan in Oct, 2011, when the Pakistani Ambassador had offered to resign after a secret memo purportedly written by him on behalf of President Zardari was delivered to Admiral Mullen, the then Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff, by an eminent Pakistani-American businessman, days after Osama was killed in a US raid in Abbottabad. The scandal exposed the fragile relationship between Pak and the US. [Read: US says no comment on Haqqani resignation]
