Fact Check: Did burqa clad women dance to ‘Jai Shri Ram’ tune

A video has been making the rounds claiming that a group of burqa-clad students we're dancing to a song that contained the words, 'Jai Shri Ram.'

In the video a girl in a red saree also can be dancing and the text states, 'when your dance teacher is a Kattar Hindu.'

The question is whether the girls were dancing to the tune of 'Jai Shri Ram.' However what we found that the video was edited. The song was added to the original video of the girls in burqa dancing.

A reverse image search of the video keyframes led to several uploads of the video. The original video can be found here.

On searching further, we found that the video was shot at Madaripur Girls High School. Madaripur is a part of the Dhaka Division in central Bangladesh.

A person by the name Bilal Hosain Sagar had also uploaded the same video on Facebook. He had in fact uploaded the video on March 1 2023. The video has been liked over 5 lakh times and there are over 40,000 comments for the video.

We also found that the song in the background is "Amar Monta Je Aj Elomelo," by S I Tutul.
Another video had been uploaded on February 27 2023 from the Madaripur Girls High School on YouTube. The girls in the video can be seen wearing the same red and green sarees. They can be seen performing with the Bangladeshi national flag in their hands. The video's title reads, 'Display of Madaripur Girls High School. Annual Sports Day.'

Hence it is clear that the video being shared with the claim that burqa-clad women were dancing to the tune of 'Jai Shri Ram' has been edited. The video is in fact from a school in Bangladesh and was shot during the annual day.
