Fact Check: This video of burqa-clad women fighting is not from Bengaluru

With the elections all set to take place in Karnataka a video has gone viral with the claim that some women, all clad in burqas were fighting in the state.

In a video that has been widely shared it is claimed that the women can be seen fighting each other so aggressively that one of them is seen dropping her child amidst the brawl.

Those sharing the video have claimed that it is from Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka which votes on May 10.

OneIndia has learnt that that the video is from Saudi Arabia and notScreenshot 2023-05-09 at 11.52.56 AM.png Bengaluru. Moreover the video is several years old, Upon conducting a reverse-image search we found a video which clearly said it is from Saudi Arabia.

The video was posted on YouTube with the caption, 'Muslim women fighting on the road. The video was posted by one Zameer Hassan and it appeared to have been shot from a car. The description makes it clear that the video was posted over 4 years back and has no connection to Bengaluru.

We also came across several news reports which had the same video. Russian news agency Sputnik had posted the same video with the story on September 12 2018. Per this report, the incident took place in Riyadh the capital of Saudi Arabia. The Sun too had published a report about the incident. No where did we find that the said video was shot in Bengaluru.

Hence it is clear that the video is not from Bengaluru as is being claimed.
