A message has gone viral with the claim that duplicate Amul butter is being packed in China.
While sharing a video, a man details how to tell the difference between fake China-made Amul butter and the original one. The suer details how one can tell the difference by looking at the packaging.

"Duplicate Amul butter has come in the market. Everyone must watch this video before buying Amul butter, then be careful while buying Amul butter," the message read.
The person in the video can be heard saying that in the fake product the green dot signifies that the product is vegetarian. You can see the same in the front-side of the packaging," the person sharing the information said.
If one were to look at the original Amul butter packaging, then it is clear that the same green dot can be found.
Reacting to the viral video, Amul took to Twitter and clarified about the same.
"Issued in public interest by Amul. This is for your kind information that a fake message is being forwarded on WhatsApp and Social Media platforms regarding duplicate Amul Butter packed in China. We wish to inform you, both packets of Amul Butter shown in the video are genuine and manufactured in India by Amul. As per advisory of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, all new dairy products must show the veg log on the front of the pack. The video clipping shows comparison between the earlier pack and new pack of Amul Butter and has been used to create misinformation and spread fear and concern among the consumers. A legal notice has been issued to the individuals of Srinagar who are involved in creating this fake news story. We request you to kindly share the message with your family and friends and sensitise them."
Many users have responded to the tweet and thanked Amul for clarifying the issue. One user wrote, "the fake ad is utterly butterly malicious."
Hence it is clear that the video in circulation claiming that duplicate Amul us being packed in China is fake and misleading. Further, Amul too has taken to the social media to clarify its position on the issue and called the viral video regarding its product as fake. Amul has also initiated legal action regarding the same.
