Seven others were seriously injured, while damage to homes was so great that it could not immediately be assessed, officials said. Aftershocks continued to shake Ishikawa prefecture and nearby areas a day after a magnitude 7.6 temblor slammed the area on Monday afternoon.

As the world prays for Japan, various alarming visuals claiming to be from the latest earthquake are circulating on the internet. In one such clip doing rounds on social media sites, a harrowing video capturing a natural disaster has surfaced, depicting a powerful flow of mud and water inundating a street, sweeping away everything in its wake.

However, the clip is from a massive landslide that ripped through a Japanese seaside resort town on July 3 in 2021.

In another video, water crashes into buildings and roads, destroying everything as the tsunami waves strike. This is a clip of the 2011 tsunami disaster in Japan.
