Air India Plane Crash: Is This The Final Moments Of A Passenger Recorded Inside Before Crash? Here's The Truth

A video on social media has gone viral, claiming that a passenger recorded his last moments before Air India flight crashed in Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon.

A user named Deepak Sharma posted the clip with a caption: "Air India crash in Ahmedabad. Was someone making a video at the last moment in the plane? But at the same moment #planecrash it happened and it's all over ✍️"

The clip instantly went viral on social media, garnering over 6 lakh views in over three hours.

Truth Behind The Clip

However, investigations reveal that the video is not related to any Ahmedabad incident. It is, in fact, footage from a fatal plane crash in Nepal in January 2023, which resulted in 66 casualties. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has also issued a clarification, confirming the video is old and being shared with a false context.

Many users also pointed out that it is not related to the Ahmedabad plane crash. "This is not of the Ahmedabad flight crash," one user said. Another user commented, "Sad that you guys are spreading misinformation at this hour. Horrible behaviour."

The third user stated, "Stop posting videos. This is an old video. Shame on you."

A UK-bound Air India flight carrying 242 people crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad on Thursday. The plane had crashed at BJ Medical Hospital in Meghani Nagar in Ahmedabad.

Among the passengers were 169 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, one Canadian, and seven Portuguese nationals. The flight was commanded by Captain Sumit Sabharwal and co-pilot Clive Kunder.

However, one person has miraculously survived in the crash. Speaking to ANI on a phone call, Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik says, "The police found one survivor in seat 11A. One survivor has been found in the hospital and is under treatment. Cannot say anything about the number of deaths yet. The death toll may increase as the flight crashed in a residential area."
