Karisma's Kids Got Rs 1900 Crore Worth of Assets: Priya Sachdev's Lawyer On Seeking Share in Sujay's Property
The legal battle surrounding the vast estate of late businessman Sunjay Kapur has escalated, with Karisma Kapoor's children filing a suit in the Delhi High Court seeking their rightful share. The ₹30,000-crore inheritance has become the subject of intense scrutiny, raising serious allegations and questions about transparency and conduct.
Appearing on behalf of Priya Sachdev Kapur, Sunjay's third wife, senior advocate Rajiv Nayar made pointed remarks about Karisma Kapoor, stating she had been "nowhere to be seen for the last 15 years" following her separation from Kapur, according to a report in News18.

Nayar also urged the court to consider the circumstances of Kapur's death, noting that he "died while playing polo."
Samaira and Kiaan have alleged that Priya Kapur, Sunjay Kapur's third wife, fabricated his will in an attempt to seize total control of his assets. Represented by their mother, the children filed the suit, contending they were unlawfully disinherited by Priya Kapur following the businessman's death from a heart attack during a polo match in London earlier this June.
NDTV quoted Rajiv Nayar as saying, "This suit is not maintainable at all. I am his legal wife. The claims of love and affection - where was all this when they fought prolonged divorce legal battles in the Supreme Court. Your husband left you several years ago."
He continued: "The plaintiffs ought to have told your ladyships that acrimonious divorce proceedings ended up in the top court. So much love. We have a man who has died. Show some sympathy. I am a widow. I was his last lawfully wedded wife. Where were you? Your husband left you many years ago."
Priya's lawyer informed Karisma's children got Rs 1,900 crore worth of assets under the RK Family Trust. "So much crying.. The plaintiffs received Rs 1,900 crore worth of assets under the Trust. I don't know how much is enough," Nayar stated.
Will Controversy and Alleged Concealment
Central to the dispute is the emergence of a purported will dated 21 March 2025. The children allege they were repeatedly told by Priya that no will existed. It was only after seven weeks that a meeting was held where the executor briefly displayed the document without providing a copy. The suit claims this raises "serious doubts" and highlights that two individuals closely linked to Priya were responsible for presenting the will.
The plaintiffs argue that it is "unnatural and not normal conduct" for the will to have been concealed for weeks and then revealed under questionable circumstances.
Trust and Transparency Issues
The children claim they were informed that all assets were held under the RK Family Trust. They were initially told to attend an AGM on July 25, 2025, to sign related forms, but were later informed their presence was no longer required. Neither they nor their mother was given access to the trust deed or details of the assets, which they say is a major breach of transparency.
Karisma's advocate Mahesh Jethmalani told the court: "All along, the plaintiffs on enquiry were told by Priya Kapur that there was no will. Some property is held by a Trust. After some time, meetings and conversations between the ex-wife and present wife, it was decided that a meeting be held at Taj Mansingh Delhi for discussing the Trust provisions."
He added: "First, we were told there was no will by Priya Kapur, then suddenly we were told at the RK Family Trust meeting on July 30 that there was a will by late Sanjay Kapur."
Concerns from Sunjay Kapur's Mother
Rani Kapur, Sunjay's mother, also voiced concerns through her counsel Vaibhav Gaggar, telling the court that "there's something unholy going on" in the inheritance proceedings. She questioned why the trust she had established offered her no benefits and lamented the lack of response to her repeated requests for a copy of the will, stating, "I repeatedly mailed them to ask for a copy of the will, but received no response."
Court Directions
The Delhi High Court has ordered all parties to file written statements within two weeks, with rejoinders to follow within a week. Summonses have been issued, and notices served on the plea for interim relief. Priya Sachdev Kapur has been directed to submit a full inventory of all movable and immovable assets linked to the estate.
