The film "Muthu" holds a significant place in the hearts of people from both Tamil Nadu and Japan. Originally released in India in 1995, it was later dubbed and released in Japan in 1998, where it garnered immense popularity and played a pivotal role in elevating actor Rajinikanth's fame in the country. Remarkably, "Muthu" held the title of the highest-grossing Indian film in Japan until 2022 when it was surpassed by "RRR."
Additionally, Japan's Mitsubishi has established strong ties with Tamil Nadu. In May of the previous year, Chief Minister MK Stalin unveiled the foundation stone for Mitsubishi Electric India's factory in Tiruvallur district. With an investment of Rs 1,891 crore, the factory is set to manufacture air-conditioners and compressors. Notably, this project is anticipated to generate employment opportunities for over 2,000 individuals, as reported by The Hindu.
