War 2 Box Office Collection - Day 1: Here's How Much Hrithik, Junior NTR's Film Raked In On Opening Day

War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, opened to Rs 52.50 crore at the box office, exceeding initial projections. The film's strong regional performance, especially in Telugu, contributed significantly to its success despite facing stiff competition.

The spy-action thriller 'War 2', featuring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, has made a remarkable debut at the domestic box office as it made an estimated Rs 52.50 crore on its first day. Despite initial predictions of a modest start, the film exceeded expectations with its impressive earnings.

The advance booking of War 2 had met with a lukewarm response. Trade analysts anticipated it might record one of the lowest openings in YRF's Spy Universe, projecting around Rs 43 crore net. This was despite its large-scale production and star-studded cast, drawing comparisons to Salman Khan's 'Tiger 3'.

Box Office Collections

The Hindi version of 'War 2' contributed significantly to the opening day collection, bringing in approximately Rs 29 crore net. Although this figure surpassed advance ticket sales expectations, it still lagged behind other franchise entries like 'Ek Tha Tiger', which earned Rs 32.93 crore in 2012. Consequently, it became the lowest Hindi opener in YRF's Spy Universe, with Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan' leading at Rs 55 crore.

Interestingly, the Telugu dubbed version played a crucial role in boosting overall earnings. It amassed an impressive Rs 23.25 crore net, largely due to Jr NTR's extensive fan base. The Tamil version added a modest Rs 25 lakh to the total. This strong regional performance helped 'War 2' comfortably surpass the Rs 50 crore mark on its opening day.

Industry estimates suggest that once all language versions are included, Day 1 gross could exceed Rs 60 crore across India. Early gross estimates already touch Rs 65 crore.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth's Coolie has got a flying start at the India box office. As per Sacnilk, the movie is estimated to have made a net collection of Rs 65 crore in India alone. In Tamil Nadu alone, it is predicted to have collected over Rs 35 crore on day 1.

The success of War 2 now depends on word-of-mouth.
