Vijay's Fans Go Wild On Upcoming 'Leo' Movie: Theatres Vandalised, 7 AM Shows Cancelled

Vijay's upcoming movie 'Leo' has already found itself embroiled in controversy even before its release, leading to a ban on teaser and trailer celebrations inside movie theaters by theatre owners.

This decision comes in the wake of an incident where fans of the actor reportedly tore seat covers and dismantled seats during the screening of the 'Leo' trailer at a Chennai theater as per a report by HT.

Furthermore, the government has denied permission for early morning shows, such as the 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. screenings, for 'Leo.' The film will now open in theaters at 9 a.m. on 19th October.

Film trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan took to X (formerly twitter) to share pictures of the damaged seats in a movie theater following the incident. He also confirmed that Tamil Nadu theaters will no longer allow teaser and trailer celebrations within their premises, citing the President of the Theater Owners Association's decision to cease such activities.

Regarding the request for 4 a.m. shows, a petition was filed before the Madras High Court to allow the screening of 'Leo' at this early hour. However, Justice Anita Sumanth refrained from issuing orders on this matter.

The court did direct the Tamil Nadu government to reconsider its decision not to allow 7 a.m. shows for the film. Nevertheless, in a later tweet, Manobala confirmed that even 7 a.m. shows will not be permitted for 'Leo,' and the film's first show will commence at 9 a.m.

Manobala tweeted on X, "Tamil Nadu government REFUSES to accept Madras High Court's reconsideration on #Leo 7 am shows.

Hence it is CLEAR now that there is no 4 am or 7 am shows for #LokeshKanagaraj's #LeoFilm.

As stated in earlier GO, Joseph Vijay's #LEOFDFS will start only at 9 am."

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, 'Leo' marks the much-anticipated reunion of Vijay and Trisha Krishnan, who previously collaborated on films like 'Ghilli,' 'Kuruvi,' 'Thirupaachi,' and 'Aathi.' The movie also features Sanjay Dutt in a prominent role.
