The one-minute and forty-three-second Maharajan film trailer starts with a shot of a city (KK Nagar), a salon, and Vijay Sethupathi standing in a police station where he is requesting a police officer to lodge an FIR. He tells the policeman that Lakshmi got stolen from his house, and the police officer refuses saying why don't he doesn't investigate the case himself.

But Lakshmi is not money, his wife or daughter, then what is Lakshmi? The trailer is full of suspense, and trying to drop a hit about Sethupathi's efforts to get it back.

The last shot of the trailer shows ace director and actor Anurag Kashyap portraying a negative role and his facial expressions are enough to bring audience to the theater.
