Urfi Javed Clarifies 'Arrest' Controversy: Arrested By 'Fashion Police,' Not Real Ones

Urfi Javed has finally shed light on her recent alleged 'arrest' controversy. The actress was taken into custody by individuals dressed as police officers on Friday morning, sparking widespread speculation about her arrest. While many social media users believed it to be a publicity stunt, Mumbai Police clarified that the 'officials' seen in the videos of her supposed 'arrest' were impostors, and subsequently filed a criminal case against her.

In response to the clarification, Urfi Javed confirmed that she had not been arrested by the Mumbai Police but rather by the 'fashion police.'

She took to her Instagram account to share a video in which she showcased various bold fashion looks while posing behind bars. The caption accompanying the video read, "Arrested by the fashion police for my fierce fashion game, but nothing can stop me! Excited to announce FREAKIN' UORFICATION, my collection launch with @Freakinsindia."

Urfi also posted a picture from her supposed 'arrest' and explained, "Arrested by the fashion police. Guys, this was a campaign for a photo shoot."

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police issued a statement via their official handle on X (formerly Twitter), asserting, "One Can't Violate Law Of The Land, For Cheap Publicity! A viral video of a woman being allegedly arrested by Mumbai Police, in a case of obscenity, is not true - insignia and uniform have been misused."

The statement continued, "However, a criminal case has been registered against those involved in the misleading video, at Oshiwara Pstn under sections 171, 419, 500, 34 IPC. While further investigation is ongoing, the fake inspector has been apprehended, and the vehicle has also been seized. #RealityCheck."

This isn't the first time that Urfi has found herself in hot water. Just last month, a complaint was lodged against her at the Bandra Police Station for her fashion choices, as reported by ETimes. The actress was subsequently summoned to the police station for questioning.
