Filmmaker-actor R Parthiban has issued a fresh clarification video, saying he deeply regrets comments that dragged Trisha Krishnan into the ongoing discussion around Vijay and Sangeeta Sornalingam’s marital dispute.

Parthiban said he even attempted to get a contentious video clip removed from circulation before it spread widely online, stressing that the remarks did not match personal values.

The controversy began after actor and TVK chief Vijay and Trisha attended a wedding reception together in Chennai, days after Sangeeta Sornalingam sought divorce. In her petition, Sangeeta alleged Vijay was in a relationship with an unnamed actor. Social media discussion soon linked that allegation to the wedding appearance, putting every attendee under sharp public spotlight.

Parthiban clarification on Trisha Vijay controversy and public regrets

Parthiban had already apologised once after Trisha objected to his words, but the YouTube video is being presented as an official clarification. He explained that the tone used on stage did not reflect long-time respect for Trisha or Vijay. He admitted he felt disturbed when he realised how widely his remarks travelled beyond the event hall.

Explaining his stance, Parthiban said he never planned to target Trisha during the show and especially regretted using a Kundavai reference. He also rejected speculation that he demanded organisers flash Trisha’s photo, terming this allegation a complete fabrication. He described such claims as a “100% lie” that wrongly questioned his intentions and professional history.

The issue began at the Galatta Awards, where Parthiban joined a segment revisiting actors he had previously worked with. When Trisha’s image appeared on the big screen, he played on her famous role as Kundavai from Ponniyin Selvan and joked, "This Kundavai should be kept at home for a few days. That's good. Don't let her come out."

Trisha reacted strongly through X, criticising what happened on stage and the way her image was reportedly used. She wrote, "I was informed by the organisers of a recent event that my name and picture were included at the last minute at the request of an individual conveyed through his assistant. A microphone doesn't make a comment intelligent or humorous. It just makes stupidity louder. Crude words without knowledge say more about the speaker than the person they're aimed at."

Parthiban countered that version in his video, insisting he never instructed anyone to display Trisha’s photograph. Reaffirming his independence, he said, "I am not a slave to anyone. I have never been paid to attend an event, and I never will be. I will not join any political party or compromise my integrity for money. My honest feeling is that Thalapathy Vijay has overcome enormous obstacles to enter politics. Even the Karur stampede did not damage him as much as this wedding reception did. And Trisha should not have attended the wedding reception. That is my inner thought. But I did not go on stage with the intention of saying it. The event was pre-planned, and I will speak about that separately."
