Tribute To Sanjay Gadhvi: Director Of Dhoom Series Passes Away At 56
Filmmaker Sanjay Gadhvi, known for his work on the blockbuster Dhoom series, passed away at his Mumbai residence on Sunday. His daughter, Sanjina Gadhvi, confirmed the news to PTI. Gadhvi, aged 56, was on the verge of turning 57 in three days. He notably directed the 2004 film Dhoom featuring Hrithik Roshan and its sequel, Dhoom 2, released in 2006. Yash Raj Films (YRF), along with actors Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu, mourned his demise and paid tribute on social media platforms.
Sanjina informed PTI, "He passed away at 9.30 am this morning at his residence. We are not certain about the cause, but it is most likely due to a heart attack. He was in good health, not experiencing any illness." Gadhvi is survived by his wife, Gina, and two daughters, with Sanjina being the elder one.

Abhishek Bachchan, who played a pivotal role in all three Dhoom movies, expressed his sorrow on Gadhvi's demise through an Instagram post. He reminisced about their collaboration and posted, "I took this photo of Sanjay whilst we were filming the climax of Dhoom 2 in South Africa. We made 2 films together - Dhoom and Dhoom 2. Sanju, when I spoke to you last week and we were reminiscing about our shoots and memories I would never have imagined even in my craziest dreams that I would have to write a post like this."
"I'm shocked beyond belief. You had faith in me, even when I didn't. You gave me my first ever hit!!! I can never ever forget that or be able express what it meant to me. I will cherish your friendship always. Rest in peace my brother," he added.
Bipasha Basu, who starred in Dhoom 2, shared a picture of Gadhvi on Instagram Stories and wrote, "Rip my friend Om Shanti @sanjaygadhvi4 Gone too soon."
YRF honored Gadhvi on their official social media platform with a picture, captioned: "The magic he created on screen will be cherished forever. May his soul rest in peace. #SanjayGadhvi."
