Thudarum OTT Release Date: Will Mohanlal's Malayalam Film Hit The Digital Platform On-Time?

Will Mohanlal's Malayalam movie Thudarum be released this month as expected by fans before or will it be pushed? This is the question that is lingering in the minds of the fans.

Is Thudarum OTT Release Postponed?

As per the earlier reports, Thudarum was supposed to be released on May 23 or May 30. Of late, there was a speculation doing rounds that the movie will be out in the second week of June. It was because the movie is doing fairly well even in its fourth week at the box office.

However, the OTT release of the film might be pushed. So, it is expected to be out early next month. JioHotstar has acquired the digital rights of the Malayalam film. It was earlier speculated that Amazon had acquired the rights.

Amazon Prime Video had bought the digital rights for Mohanlal's recent hit movie Empuraan (the Lucifer sequel) for a reported ₹60 crore. However, the money paid by Jio for Thudarum is significantly less, as per a report in OTT.

Meanwhile, Thudarum has minted Rs 108.16 crore (nett) at the India box office. Tharun Moorthy-directed film was released on April 25.

On the first day, it earned Rs 5.25 crore. Following the good word-of-mouth, the movie minted Rs 51.4 crore in the first week. Even in the second week, the business remained stable and it managed to rake in Rs 35.35 crore, to take 14-day total to close to Rs 87 crore.

In its third week, it has earned Rs 20.8 crore. However, the movie has grossed close to Rs 128 in India.
