The Raja Saab OTT Release Date: Here's When Prabhas' New Telugu Film Be Out Online

Director Maruthi's The Raja Saab arrived in theatres burdened with huge expectations. Marketed as a grand-scale fantasy horror comedy, it promised a vibrant departure for superstar Prabhas from his recent stoic roles.

Despite this enticing premise, the film failed to translate anticipation into sustained box office success, culminating in a swift decline after its opening and a final India net collection of approximately ₹143 crore (net) at India box office in 15 days, as per Sacnilk data.

The film's financial trajectory reveals a story of initial momentum followed by a sharp fall. A strong opening day of ₹53.75 crore, bolstered by premieres, suggested robust fan turnout. However, collections plummeted by over 50% on the second day, signalling weak word-of-mouth. The first week amassed ₹130.25 crore, but the decline was severe and continuous thereafter. Week two collections dropped a staggering 90%, finishing at just ₹12.58 crore, with the 15th-day figures falling to a negligible ₹0.17 crore. This pattern indicates that beyond the core audience, the film struggled to attract wider viewership.

The Raja Saab presented a conceptually intriguing narrative that ultimately suffered in execution. The story follows Raju (Prabhas), a devoted grandson seeking his missing grandfather, the exorcist Pekamedala Kanakaraju (Sanjay Dutt). The search leads him to a haunted mansion, unveiling a generational horror tale rooted in familial sin. While flashes of Maruthi's trademark humour and horror aesthetics were present, critics and audiences alike found the narrative uneven and exhausting, failing to cohesively blend its disparate genres into a satisfying whole. Prabhas's committed performance was noted as a highlight, but could not anchor the film's sprawling and often messy plot.

With its theatrical run effectively concluded, the focus now shifts to its digital afterlife. An OTT release often provides a second chance for such films, allowing them to find an audience unconstrained by ticket prices and word-of-mouth pressures. For The Raja Saab, the streaming platform offers an opportunity for viewers to engage with its fantasy elements and Prabhas's energetic turn in the comfort of their homes, potentially reassessing its merits outside the context of box office performance.
