Thandel Movie Review What s Good What s Bad In Naga Chaitanya-Starrer

Thandel Story:
The plot of Thandel revolves around rugged experiences of fishermen from Srikakulam who found themselves accidentally drifting into Pakistani waters during a routine fishing trip. The narrative explores themes of love, revenge, courage and patriotism, weaving together action, drama, and emotion to captivate the audience.

The movie has garnered a lot of hype with its posters, promos and trailer. With a good publicity, Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi-starrer has managed to draw the viewers' attention.

Will the movie live up to the hype? Find out from the viewers' words:

Jalapathy Gudelli:#Thandel Naga Chaitanya's genuine portrayal as a leader of the fishermen and the romantic scenes are particularly captivating, but the entire Pakistan episode and uneven portions are unimpressive, making the film just okay watch. Devi Sri Prasad's music is a huge strength. 1/2
Sai Pallavi is natural. The Bansuri Swaraj's episode looks forced and included for the political benefit of the makers.

Tollywood Box Office: #NagaChaitanya delivered a standout performance as Thandel Raju dominating every scene with his mature acting as Rural Fisherman

#SaiPallavi brought the emotional depth & carried the core plot. #DeviSriPrasad music proved to be a biggest soul for love stories

Despite a slow start in the first 20 minutes, picks up with an engaging screenplay and a promising interval block. Emotions take center stage in 2nd half blending love and patriotism perfectly

Overall Rating : 3.5 /5

Highly recommended to watch in theatres

Haricharan Pudipeddi: #Thandel at interval. Neat first half. Chandoo beautifully sets up the fishermen community and their lifestyle. One major sea portion is far better than what we saw in Devara. Chaitanya is earnest in a role out of his comfort zone. Sai Pallavi plays the strong anchor part in making the romance portion tick.

Venky Reviews: #Thandel is a passable love story that works well when focused on the feel good and intimate moments between the lead pair but is tiring whenever it shifts the focus to other subplots.

The lead performances by Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi hold this film together along with the superb music by DSP which is the biggest backbone for this film. DSPs best work in recent times. However, the weak writing and dull narration style at times make it feel dragged out.

The film has a few feel good moments in both halves and a well executed last 20 minute block, but the total India-Pakistan sequence in the 2nd half hampers the flow mightily and is very artificial. The efforts of Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi can be seen throughout and both gave their best but the writing was only able to support at times. Ends up being an alright watch!

Rating: 2.75/5

#Thandel Passable 1st Half!

The first half has a few feel good moments backed by good songs/bgm which is the biggest asset so far. Songs have come out well on screen. However, the pace is pretty flat and the drama doesn't pickup much till the pre-interval point. Needs a good 2nd half!

TheAakashavaani: #Thandel - Naga Chaitanya's career-best performance, Sai Pallavi's mesmerising acting, undoubtedly the best work from Devi Sri Prasad in recent times and the final act worked out in the favour of the film.

There are at least three to four scenes in the film where Naga Chaitanya delivers a memorable performance. He is too good during an emotional burst-out scene in the second half. Sai Pallavi as Sathya is excellent as usual. The way she performed with her eyes was a treat to watch.

And, DEVI SRI PRASAD's music is the backbone of the film. He lifted quite a few ordinary scenes with his terrific background score. This is his best work in the last few years.

Chandoo Mondeti's direction is a mixed bag. His direction is partly good. A better screenplay in both halves, specifically during the prison scenes would have done a world of good for the film. Overall, Thandel is a pretty decent film and you may give it a try.
