Thalaivar 170: Rajinikanth Reunited With 'Mentor' Amitabh Bachchan After 37 Years

Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, two legendary stars, have commenced shooting for TJ Gnanavel's upcoming film in the city. This collaboration marks a reunion after their last movie together in 1991, "Hum," and both actors enthusiastically shared the news on their social media platforms.

The movie, which remains untitled at this point and is backed by Lyca Productions, is described as an entertaining film with a meaningful message at its core.

Rajinikanth, who is 72 years old, expressed his excitement by posting a picture with Bachchan, whom he regards as his mentor, on his official X account. In his caption, he said,"After 33 years, I am working again with my mentor, the phenomenon, Shri Amitabh Bachchan in the upcoming Lyca's 'Thalaivar 170' directed by TJ Gnanavel. My heart is thumping with joy! @SrBachchan @LycaProductions @tjgnan #Thalaivar170.''

In response, Amitabh Bachchan also shared his thoughts about the project on his personal blog, expressing his delight at reuniting with Rajinikanth on screen. He described Rajinikanth as an "extraordinary human" and highlighted his exceptional talent and legendary status in the world of cinema.

"A new project has started today, the one with Rajnikant ji .. and getting together on a professional platform, has been coming in years .. (sic)" the 81-year-old said. The megastar described Rajinikanth as an "extraordinary human".

"His most down to earth living and nature .. his exceptional talent and his legendary presence among the greats of cinema .. and .. not even going into the stratastrophic popularity that he has enjoyed through decades .. and the love and affection he has had towards my family and me .." Bachchan added.

This film, Rajinikanth's 170th project, features a stellar ensemble cast including Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Ritika Singh, Manju Warrier, and Dushara Vijayan. Anirudh Ravichander has been roped in to compose the music, and the movie will be produced by A Subaskaran.
