Tabu Cast As 'Sister Francesca' In The New HBO Max Series ‘Dune: Prophecy’
Tabassum Fatima Hashmi, known by her professional alias Tabu, has been cast in the new HBO Max series 'Dune: Prophecy'.
Tabu is one of the most popular actresses in Bollywood, having started her acting career all the way back in 1985. Some of the major acting roles she's done are in early 90s films like 'Coolie No. 1', 'Maachis', 'Chandni Bar' and 'Ninne Pelladata'. The modern audience would know of her from Bollywood hits like the 'Dhrishyam' series, 'Golmaal Again' and one of her highest grossing films, 'Andhahun'.

This will be the third time Tabu has worked in a Hollywood film, the other two films being 'Namesake' and 'Life of Pi'. She also has prior experience working in the English cinema medium with the British television series 'Suitable Boy'.
In 'Dune: Prophecy', Tabu is being cast as Sister Francesca, as reported in an exclusive article by Variety Magazine. Her role has been described as "strong, intelligent, and alluring, Sister Francesca leaves a lasting impression in her wake. Once a great love of the Emperor, her return to the palace strains the balance of power in the capital."
The plot of the Max series is said to be derived from the book 'Sisterhood Of Dune' which was co-authored by Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert. Herbert being son of Kevin Herbert, the man who wrote the Dune trilogy. The series is set to take place 10,000 years before the events of the 'Dune' movies. It will follow the creation of the Bene Gesserit, who are the masterminds behind everything that has been happening in the movies so far.
Dune 2 grossed around ₹3,520 crore worldwide, making it one of the highest grossing films in 2024 so far. Only ₹35.75 crore of that was made in India, though. While the series may not have had the impact in India that it did worldwide, the casting of Tabu is sure to bring more eyes to the Max series, as well as the 'Dune 3' movie that is supposedly in the works.
