Suraj Venjaramoodu Asked If Transgenders Feel Pleasure Like Females: Anjali Ameer's Big Allegations

Malayalam actor Anjali Ameer has opened up about a distressing experience she had with noted artiste Suraj Venjaramoodu, during the filming of a project. Anjali, the first transgender actor in Mollywood, who gained recognition for her role alongside Mammootty in the Tamil film 'Peranbu', shared that Venjaramoodu's behavior made her uncomfortable on set.

Speaking to Mathrubhumi, Ameer revealed that Venjaramoodu asked her a deeply personal and inappropriate question: whether transgender individuals experience pleasure in the same way as females. This question, she stated, was both unsettling and angering, leading her to react strongly.

"I have never faced such traumatic experiences until Suraj Venjaramoodu asked me if transgender people feel the same pleasure as females. I am a strong person, but this question made me very angry. I warned him and reported it to Mammootty and the director. Venjaramoodu apologized and has never spoken to me in that manner again, which I appreciate," the website quoted Ameer as saying.

Following the incident, Ameer took her concerns to Mammootty and the film's director. She noted that Venjaramoodu apologized for his behavior and has since maintained appropriate conduct towards her, which she acknowledged as a positive outcome.

Anjali Ameer's accusation against Venjaramoodu comes amid broader discussions within the Malayalam film industry, particularly in the wake of the Hema Committee report. The report exposed widespread issues, including sexual harassment, casting couch practices, pay disparities, and lobbying, painting a grim picture of the industry's darker side.

Despite her troubling encounter, Ameer was quick to point out that not everyone in the industry behaves in such a manner. "Let me tell you, there are many good people in the industry, but that doesn't mean there aren't those who ask for compromises or favors. There are people like that too," she said.

To protect herself from possible exploitation, Ameer has consciously maintained professional boundaries, avoiding after-parties and remaining reserved on set. She believes these measures have shielded her from more significant harm in the industry.
