Has renowned playback singer KJ Yesudas been hospitalised? His son Vijay Yesudas has debunked the rumours saying that his father is fine and currently in the United States.

No Truths In Hospitalisation

"There is no truth to the reports of hospitalisation," India Today Digital quoted Vijay as saying. He told the media that he is not aware of the rumours until he was contacted.

Reports had earlier surfaced claiming that the 85-year-old music legend was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai due to age-related health issues. However, those reports have turned out to be fake.

The legendary singer, who turned 85 on January 10, continues to remain active in the music world. In November 2024, he delivered a soulful Sanskrit rendition of Sarvesa, a Christian prayer, showcasing his enduring passion for music.

A Journey Spanning Six Decades

With a career spanning over six decades, KJ Yesudas has recorded more than 50,000 songs in multiple languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Arabic, and even Russian. His contributions to music have earned him numerous accolades, including eight National Awards, state honours from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and West Bengal, and the prestigious Padma Shri (1975), Padma Bhushan (2002), and Padma Vibhushan (2017).

Born in Kochi, Kerala, to Augustine Joseph and Elizabeth Joseph, Yesudas began his musical journey under the guidance of Carnatic maestros K.R. Kumaraswamy Iyer and Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer. His first major breakthrough came with the 1967 Malayalam film Udhyogastha, directed by P. Venu. In Hindi cinema, he gained fame with songs like Jaaneman Jaaneman from Chhoti Si Baat and memorable tracks in films such as Chitchor, Trishul, and Hindustani.

One of the rare records that he holds is singing 11 songs in different songs in a single day, a testament to his versatility and dedication to his craft.
