Shanavas Death: Son of Malayalam Legend Prem Nazir Passes Away at 71

Shanawas, a well-known Malayalam actor and son of the legendary Prem Nazir, passed away on Monday night at 70. He had been battling kidney and heart issues for four years. His health deteriorated on Monday night, leading to his admission to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, where he died around 11:50 pm.

Born in Thiruvananthapuram to Prem Nazir and Habeeba Beevi, Shanawas pursued his early education at Chirayinkeezhu English Medium School, Montfort School, and Yercaud. He later earned a master's degree in English Literature from New College, Chennai.

Film Career and Achievements

Shanawas began his acting journey in 1981 with the film Premageethangal, directed by Balachandra Menon. Over the years, he featured in several significant films such as Mazhanilavu, Eeyugam, Maniyara, Neelagiri, Garbhashreemaan, and Zachariyayude Garbhinikal. His career spanned over 50 films in both Malayalam and Tamil cinema.

After a brief hiatus from acting, Shanawas returned to the silver screen in 2011 with China Town. His last appearance was in the Prithviraj-starrer Jana Gana Mana. Besides films, he was also active on television with roles in popular serials like Shankhumukham, Velutha Kathreena, Kadamatathu Kathanar, and Sathyameva Jayathe.

Personal Life and Family

Shanawas is survived by his wife Ayesha Abdul Aziz and their sons Ajith Khan and Shameer Khan. His daughter-in-law Hana is also part of the family. The family resided at Cordon Trinity 2B in Vazhuthacaud.

The funeral for Shanawas is scheduled for Tuesday at 5 pm at the Palayam Muslim Jamaath Cemetery. Fans and family members are expected to gather to pay their respects to the beloved actor.
