Shah Rukh Khan had a witty and Tharoor-style response to Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's congratulatory message following the actor's win at the 71st National Film Awards. The Bollywood superstar, who secured his first National Award for Best Actor in his 33-year-long career, thanked the politician in the same eloquent spirit Tharoor is famous for.

SRK's Tharoor-Inspired Response

Shashi Tharoor, known for his flair for sophisticated vocabulary, kept it simple this time. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he wrote:
"A National Treasure wins a National Award! Congratulations @iamsrk!"

In response, Shah Rukh Khan replied with a tongue-in-cheek message that paid homage to Tharoor's signature linguistic style:
"Thank u for the simple praise Mr Tharoor... would not have understood something more magniloquent and sesquipedalian... ha ha (sic)."

Shah Rukh's First-Ever National Award

Shah Rukh Khan was awarded the Best Actor prize at the 71st National Film Awards on August 2, for his performance in the 2023 blockbuster Jawan. The recognition marks his first National Award in over three decades in the film industry.

Directed by Atlee, Jawan featured Shah Rukh in dual roles-as a father and his lookalike son. The film also starred Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, with Deepika Padukone appearing in a special cameo as the mother of the younger SRK character.

The plot of Jawan centers around Azad, a vigilante jailer of a women's prison who, along with inmates, carries out acts of justice to expose systemic corruption in India.

The superstar is currently filming his upcoming project titled King, which stars his daughter Suhana Khan alongside Deepika Padukone and Abhishek Bachchan. Reports suggest his injured arm, seen in the thank-you video, was due to an on-set mishap during the shooting of King, and he is now in recovery.
