'Salaar' 1st Day Box Office Collection: Prabhas' Film Earns Over Rs 51 Crore From Advance Booking Alone
Prabhas and Prashanth Neel's much-hyped film 'Salaar' is set for a solid start at the Indian box office despite the makers deciding to boycott the movie in multiplexes allegedly due to unfair trade multiplexes.
Hombale Films, the production house behind the mega-budget film, has formally announced on Thursday that a total of 30.25 lakh tickets have been sold for the first day. These figures exclude national multiplex chains - PVR, Inox and Cinepolis.

In Andhra, 13.25 lakh tickets have been sold followed by 6 lakh tickets in Telangana. In North India, where the film is in direct competition with Shah Rukh Khan's 'Dunki,' it has already secured 525,000 ticket sales. In Karnataka, 325,000 tickets have been sold, with 150,000 tickets in Kerala and 100,000 tickets in Tamil Nadu.
"Booking for additional screens will open shortly," the production house said on Twitter.
This comes despite the makers deciding to withdraw the release from leading multiplex chains - PVR, Inox and Cinepolis.
"Salaar team is planning to hurt the multiplex chains - PVR-Inox and Miraj - where it hurts the most. The makers have withdrawn the release of Salaar from the multiplex chains in the South Indian Markets. They won't be releasing Salaar in any of their properties in the South Market," Bollywood Hungama quoted a source as saying.
Explaining the reason behind not releasing the film in multiplexes, the source added, "Being a market leader, PVR-Inox should have taken a firm stand against unfair trade practices. But rather, they have opted to openly favour Dunki. All the single screens managed by PVR-Inox and Miraj favour Dunki over Salaar. The decision and change of tide happened last night when Shah Rukh Khan himself called Ajay Bijli and struck a lucrative deal with him with regards to showcasing," the source told us further.
The huge craze around the movie is being witnessed outside India as well. notably in the US where Telugu movies have a good market. Officially, over 70,000 tickets have been sold for the premiere from which it has made $1.81 million business. Thus it has become the highest US premiere grosser for any Indian film in 2023.

As per the trade analysts, the movie has grossed easily over Rs 36.30 crore. "The calculation is simple. assume the ticket price is Rs 120 (the minimum amount). If we multiply this by 30.25 crore, it signifies that the film has generated 36.30 crore in India through advance bookings," explains a trade analyst.
From the US market, it has estimated to have earned over Rs 15 crore. In total, the movie has easily grossed over Rs 51 crore from India and North America from the advance booking.
