Rupali Ganguly's Stepdaughter Claims Actress Tried To 'Kill' her Father: 'Feeds My Dad Strange Medications'

Rupali Ganguly has risen to be one of television's most popular personalities, largely due to her role in *Anupamaa* on Star Plus. Despite being at the peak of her career, rumours about her alleged difficult behaviour with co-stars frequently circulate in the media. The latest controversy, however, involves a person claiming to be her stepdaughter.

A user on X shared a post by Esha Verma, who identifies as the daughter of Rupali's husband, Ashwin Verma. In her post, Esha accuses Rupali of creating a rift between her and her father, drawing comparisons to Rhea Chakraborty and Sushant Singh Rajput.

While OneIndia has not been able to verify the authenticity of this post, the screenshot from 2020 has been widely shared on social media.

Esha wrote, "This is absolutely pathetic. Does anyone know the real story of Rupali Ganguly? She has had an affair with Ashwin K Verma for 12 years while he was in his second marriage. Ashwin has two daughters from his previous marriages. She is nothing but a woman who has done nothing but tried to separate me and my sister, his own daughters from their father. He used to live in California and then New Jersey for around 13-14 years before moving to Mumbai. The two have one son, not two. I'm speaking out because she claims all over the media that she has a happy marriage with my dad, when in reality she's controlling and psychotic towards him."

Esha further alleged that Rupali becomes aggressive when she attempts to contact her father, claiming Rupali threatens her and her mother.

She continued, "Whenever I try to call my father, she starts yelling and screaming death threats to myself and my mother. It's not fair that she ruined lives of Ashwin's real family and has been publicising that they have a true love marriage when she's destroyed others to get what she wants. Honestly, she's conducted acts very similar to what Rhea Chakraborty has done to SSR. She feeds my dad strange medications and is very controlling of his life. I am now 22 years old, but she has started this absurd and strange affair with my father from when I was only 3 years old. Can anyone ever imagine how it is to know that your father has left yours to go start it with someone who just wanted his money and power? My life is not the same and I have suffered so many years having the absence of my father... It's not easy with the absence of my father... It's not easy with seeing happy families stay together, while mine was broken... when my mum had to work two jobs all by herself and provide for both of us."

However, in 2021, Esha shared a warm photograph with Rupali and Ashwin on her Instagram, referring to them as 'parents'.

Rupali Ganguly has not yet addressed these accusations, but her husband, Ashwin Verma, has spoken in her defence. In a tweet, he said, "I do have two daughters from previous relationships, something Rupali and I have always been open about that I care a great deal about. I understand that my younger daughter still holds a lot of hurt about the dissolution of her parent's relationship as divorce is a difficult experience that can greatly affect and harm the children of that marriage."

He added, "But marriages end for many reasons, and my relationship with my second wife had multiple challenges that led to our separation-challenges that were between she and I and that had nothing to do with any other person. I only want the best for my children and my wife and it saddens me to see anyone being pulled into cycles of negativity by the media."

In an interview with HT, Esha Verma reiterated her position. "I've been seeing it going viral and it's definitely overwhelming but I'm glad it's being brought to light," she stated. She also mentioned that her relationship with Rupali has not improved, saying, "Not really, there's no relationship between the two of us. She's just the mother of my brother, and that's about it."

Esha shared that, shortly after her Facebook post, she posted a photo on Instagram with her father and Rupali in October 2021 to acknowledge her connection with them. "Nothing much has changed, I posted the picture to showcase that I am related to both of them, since neither my father nor Rupali chose to acknowledge me as family, personally nor publicly. Going to meet my dad once after 5 years was a blessing but also the bare minimum, as people are very lucky in this world to have both their parents."

She added that her father has largely been absent from her life, having left when she was very young. She explained, "My father hasn't been in my life and left home when I was 8. Her following me on Instagram and taking me out to dinner was the bare minimum too. I wanted to post that picture to showcase that he is my father, as I have the right to do so. But he's never posted me, and it hurts to see that they're a great, happy family, but he left his other family behind."

Ashwin K. Mehra, Rupali Ganguly's husband, was previously married to Sapna Verma, with whom he has two daughters. He and Rupali married on February 6, 2013.
