Rakshit Shetty Blasts Audio Label For Misusing Copyright Ambiguities

Rakshit Shetty, who visited the Yeshwanthpura Police Station on Friday to record his statement regarding a copyright case, expressed his disbelief over the allegations. He questioned why such a substantial amount was being sought, asserting that there was no actual copyright violation involved.

The case was filed by MRT Music, claiming that Shetty's production house, Paramvah Studios, had used two of their songs without permission in the film 'Bachelor Party' which starred Diganth and Yogesh. The complaint was lodged by Naveen Kumar, a partner at MRT Music, on July 15, alleging unauthorized use of the songs 'Gaalimathu' and 'Nyaya Ellide.'

Rakshit Shetty Visits Police Station

In a statement to the media after his visit to the police station, Shetty explained, "We had previously discussed the issue with the company and agreed to pay a certain amount, but they did not follow up. The case was filed four to five months after the film's release. One song is only six seconds long and is played in the background on TV, while the other is heard in a classroom scene. We believe neither constitutes a copyright violation."

Shetty criticized what he perceives as opportunistic behavior from music companies, suggesting that they exploit such situations to their advantage. He accused some labels of misusing ambiguities in the laws. "There's a lot of confusion in the industry about what constitutes copyright infringement. Many directors and producers lack clarity on this issue, leading to exploitation by some companies. We at Paramvah Studios are determined to challenge this case to clarify the law for everyone."

He also noted, "We haven't remade any old songs and posted them on YouTube for profit, which is often a misunderstanding in such cases.

It may be recalled that Rakshit Shetty was dragged to court by a leading audio company. However, he had come clean in the issue and the issue was amicably solved following mediation by Vijay Kiragandur of 'KGF' fame.
