Rajinikanth's Surprising Reaction To Malayalam Film Industry's Hema Committee Report
The release of the Justice K Hema Committee report, which exposes the prevalence of sexual harassment and exploitation faced by women in the Malayalam film industry, has generated significant national attention.
However, Tamil actor Rajinikanth's response to questions about the report has sparked curiosity and concern.

Rajinikanth's Reaction to Hema Committee Report
On Sunday, Rajinikanth was spotted by the press at Chennai airport as he returned from a trip. Journalists seized the opportunity to question him about various topics, including his upcoming film *Coolie*. However, when asked about the Hema Committee report, Rajinikanth appeared unaware of its contents, as reported by Hindustan Times.
In a video shared by Polimer News, Rajinikanth was initially confused when asked if a similar committee should be established to investigate issues in the Tamil film industry. Upon further clarification that the question pertained to the "Hema Committee, Malayalam," Rajinikanth responded with a smile, "I don't know...I don't know anything about that. Sorry," before addressing another question and then departing.
The Hema Committee report, named after Justice K Hema, was commissioned by the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) to address sexual harassment and exploitation in the Malayalam film industry. The report has been a topic of considerable debate due to delays in its publication. The WCC had initially faced obstacles in getting the report released, leading to a legal intervention to ensure its findings were made public, as reported by Hindustan Times.
Following the report's release, notable figures in the Malayalam film industry, including former AMMA president Mohanlal and actor Mammootty, have expressed their support for the victims and hoped for justice. The report has also prompted calls for similar investigations in other regional film industries.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu and the WCC have since advocated for the Telangana government to produce a comparable report on the Telugu film industry. This request follows the WCC's earlier submission of findings two years ago, which the government has yet to address.
Radhika Sarathkumar, a prominent figure in the industry, has highlighted the crucial role of the WCC in bringing the Hema Committee report to light. She emphasized that the WCC's advocacy was pivotal in the report's publication, which had been stalled in government channels for years until judicial intervention expedited its release, as per media reports.
As the debate continues, the focus remains on the impact of the Hema Committee report and the broader implications for the film industry, with calls for systemic change and greater accountability.
