'Pirates Of The Caribbean' 6th Movie And A Seperate Female-Led Movie Still Alive, Says Producer
Jerry Bruckheimer, executive producer of the past five 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' films, just gave a snippet into the development of the latest instalments of the franchise. While there has been no official confirmation, Bruckheimer said that both a 6th film that would act as a reboot, as well as a Margot Robbie-led 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' movie are something that fans could expect to see in the future.
In an interview with ComicBook.com, Bruckheimer spoke about how the next film in the franchise will be a reboot with fresh actors. "We're gonna reboot Pirates, so that is easier to put together because you don't have to wait for certain actors," he said.

The new movie will have a whole new cast of characters, but one wonders whether Johnny Depp will make an appearance. The actor swore not to work with the company during his defamation trial against his ex-wife, Amber Heard. The only works that audiences may have seen featuring Johnny Depp after his trial would be 'Jeanne du Barry' where he played the role of King Louis XV.
Depp also spoke at the Cannes Film Festival press conference in 2023 about his feelings towards Hollywood in general. "I don't feel boycotted by Hollywood because I don't think about Hollywood," he said. "I don't feel much further need for Hollywood."
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, however, Bruckheimer expressed his desire to bring Depp back. "It's a reboot, but if it was up to me, he would be in it," he said. "He created Captain Jack. That was not on the page, that was him doing a little Pepé Le Pew and Keith Richards. That was his interpretation of Jack Sparrow."
The reboot is currently being written by the original writer, Ted Elliott, alongside Jeff Nathanson. Also, the writer behind 'Chernobyl' and 'Last Of Us', Craig Mazin was also credited as working on a 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' script alongside Ted Elliott, but it's unclear whether that script is for the reboot, or the separate female-led film that would have starred Margot Robbie.
Margot Robbie's version of 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' was announced by Disney in 2020 and would have featured her as the female lead. It was meant to be a separate entry into the franchise that would tell the story of new characters.
In a Vanity Fair 2022 interview, however, Margot Robbie told the interviewer that the reboot may be dead. She spoke about how she, along with Disney, had been working on the female-led 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' film, but that after a while, Disney didn't want to do it.
Bruckheimer said the opposite in the Entertainment Weekly interview. As he was talking about his reboot and the Margot Robbie film, he said, "We hope to get 'em both made, and I think Disney agrees they really want to make the Margot one, too."
