Paranthu Po Movie Review: What's Good, What's Bad In Shiva's Film - Find Out
Shiva is back with his latest venture Paranthu Po, written, directed and co-produced by Ram. It is a road musical comedy film which has Mithul Ryan in the female lead role.
Grace Antony, Anjali, Vijay Yesudas, Aju Varghese and others are part of the cast. The Tamil film has Santhosh Dhayanidhi's music and Yuvan Shankar Raja's BGM.

Paranthu Po Review
Bound by innumerable EMIs, Gokul (Mirchi Shiva) and Glory (Grace Antony) lead a busy life, hoping to provide "everything" to picky kid Anbu (Mithul). Glory owns a saree shop to support themselves, while Gokul is a man who is having difficulty starting a business. While they are at work, Anbu, who is on his half-yearly vacation, is confined to his house and made to attend the classes his parents have enrolled him in.
During the holidays, Gokul handles his job and a cranky, hyperactive son while Glory travels to Coimbatore to participate in an expo. Anbu is tired of being cooped up inside, so he has his father take him for an impromptu drive. What follows next is the journey of Gokul's self-discovery.
Audience Response
The movie has garnered fairly positive reviews. Find out what netizens say about the Tamil film:
Sanjeev: #Thammudu Worst!
Thanks to #Nithin for continuously reminding me that I am an idiot to watch his movies on premiere night😍
The move neither had emotional drama nor action as they 'promised'.
'Anugachchathu pravaham' annatte teesukuntu poyaaru #VenuSriram
Gangarpanam! SKIP IT!
Review Rowdies: Sriram Venu attempts to add a special flair to the brother-sister sentiment in #Thammudu but it barely comes through. The conflict appears weak, making the drama uninteresting. A few fight scenes and important moments work, but apart from them, the film feels dull.
Plus:
👉Main story
👉Villain character setup
👉Few action parts
Minus:
👉Lacks emotional effect
👉Tedious narration
👉Missing required high
👉Never-ending fights
Haricharan Pudipeddi: #ParanthuPo - 5 stars. Sweetest film of the year. It's extremely difficult to box the film in a particular genre as it's an experience worth sitting through and relishing. Ram takes a largely heavy theme as parenting and gives it such a refreshing spin with a lot of humour and heart. It's a film that tells you everything that's wrong with today's parenting without making it too obvious. Never for a moment the film makes you feel bored as it keeps the laughs flowing.
Halitha: #ParanthuPo 🌻 is a delightful film that appeals to our inner child.
In an industry where "combinations" usually just mean two hit-makers joining forces and leave us with no exciting end-product, the pairing of director Ram and actor Shiva is a refreshing change.
They bring in new flavour. Something we didn't know we needed.
Shiva's endearing silliness being adored by Ram is ❤️❤️❤️
I can watch Gokul chase after Anbu forever. And Anjali through Ram's eyes is always special.
Philosophical filmmakers are quite rare and it's important we hear, resonate and amplify their voices.
And much love to the gal who played Myna and the cockroach kid 😀
Avinash Ramachandran: #ParanthuPo is such a fun film from start to finish. Haven't smiled and laughed so much in quite a while.
As one of the skeptics of @actorshiva and Ram working together, I must confess that I was spectacularly wrong.
Right from Mitul, Grace, Anjali, and Aju, to the duck herder, the football kids, a tea kada owner and even a loan shark, every single thing about the film is beautiful.
Basically, the film made me super happy, and not many films do it with this much finesse and ease.

Rajasekar: #ParanthuPo - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2, Director Ram has once again handled a heavy subject but the treatment is feather-lite. Two doting, hard working parents give their all for their kids but real need of the little boy is something else. While the parents provide all luxuries despite them starving for good life (the mom doesn't want to take auto to save money, she fills water from roadside dispenser, the dad runs away from EMIs but they buy wheel board, computers, orders pizza and enrolled him in a school that charges 3 lakh₹ and also pays for extra online classes), the kid wants a simple life with him swimming in a pond, climbing up mountains , playing with friends in a football ground. The kid himself realises the other side of life when he goes on an unexpected road trip with his dad.
Paranthu Po is like your Disney film that gives a solid message but on a lighter note. Also, the 20+ songs in the film is something we have seen in Disney films in the past. While the premise appears to be a film for kids, it actually teaches a lesson (not forcefully but on a casual note) to the parents although they are aware that practically there are too many hurdles in choosing a simple village life over pressure filled , ambitious urban life.
I loved the scene where Shiva feels proud when his son engrossed in the football game which he couldn't play as a child due to leg pain.
The film also filled with beautiful characters ,@yoursanjali, the childhood sweetheart of
@actorshiva who tells him how fun loving he used to be before mounting so much pressure on himself for the financial needs for his family.
A young girl who works under Grace Antony (shiva 's pair) actually chose to be honest although her situation pushes her to commit a crime. Grace Anthony herself giving her hard earned money despite she needs it the most for herself is another beautiful scene .
The unnamed old man who buys idli for the strange dad and son he just met. Also, his philosophical take on why one should fear in an open place and people should only fear sleeping in a closed room.
The kid insisting on 'no smoking' to his dad is also not forced feed in the film.
There is no stereotype on the riches too. Earlier, we have seen many films that bashed the riches for glorifying the struggles of the middle class but here, #Ram has only portrayed good souls and practical people we come across in life.
Also, this is the most entertaining film ever made by Ram or in other words, this is the max mainstream he has ever gone!
I loved it!
G Dhananjeyan: #ParanthuPo by #DirectorRam is one of the finest, lighthearted, humorous, feel good family entertainer that will stay with us for long for its theme, purpose & presentation. The theme - Parents too grow with children is so important for today's generation to know. Congrats Ram sir for making us laugh & enjoy🏆
