Pakistani Actor Hania Aamir Was Signed Before Pahalgam Attack: Say Sardaar Ji 3 Makers Amid Criticism

Amid growing tensions following the Pahalgam terrorist attack, the producers of the upcoming Punjabi film Sardaarji 3, starring Diljit Dosanjh, have issued a statement clarifying that Pakistani actress Hania Aamir was signed before the tragic incident. The film's shooting was completed prior to the recent escalation in India-Pakistan relations.

"This is to bring to everyone's kind notice that the film, named Sardaarji 3, was shot well before the prevailing situation that our country is facing right now, and it was never the case that any Pakistani artist was signed or engaged after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam," the producers stated.

No Indian Release Planned for Now

Citing the sensitive national climate, the producers confirmed that Sardaarji 3 will not be released in India or promoted in any way domestically for the time being.

"We stand united with our country and fellow countrymen during this sensitive time. Considering the same, we have decided not to release the film or any of its promotional content in India until the situation becomes opportune," they added.

However, the film's international release is scheduled for June 27, as previously planned.

Industry Backlash and FWICE's Call to PM Modi

Following the release of the film's trailer, there has been significant backlash from the Indian entertainment industry and the public. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) went as far as writing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging a ban on Diljit Dosanjh and the film's producers.

The federation demanded the revocation of passports and Indian citizenship of those involved in casting Hania Amir.

Celebrities React

Prominent artists such as Mika Singh and B Praak publicly criticized the casting decision on social media. Many fans and fellow entertainers echoed similar sentiments, calling it "insensitive" in light of the current situation between India and Pakistan.
