Nayanthara Netflix Controversy: Did Chandramukhi Makers Really Slap Her With Rs 5 Cr Notice? Truth Here

Rumours were rife that the makers of Rajinikanth's blockbuster movie Chandramukhi had slapped Nayanthara with Rs 5 crore notice for using for using a few seconds of footage from the 2005 film without authorisation in her documentary Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale.

Nayanthara had paired up opposition Rajinikanth in P Vasu-directorial movie in which Jyothika was also a female lead.

Is there truth to the claims?

Nayanthara, who starred opposite Rajinikanth in the P. Vasu directorial alongside Jyothika, found herself at the center of speculation. However, film trade expert Ramesh Bala dispelled the claims by sharing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by Sivaji Productions on his X (formerly Twitter) account. The certificate stated:

"This is to certify that Sivaji Productions has no objection to the use of the following footage in the Netflix documentary 'Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale'."

Nayanthara Vs Dhanush

A controversy broke out in November 2024 after Nayanthara accused her once-close friend and actor Dhanush of demanding Rs 10 crore for a three-second behind-the-scenes (BTS) clip featuring herself and her husband, Vignesh Shivan, from the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan.

In response to the legal notice, Nayanthara issued a strongly worded statement: "I am in receipt of your legal notice and we shall respond to it befittingly through lawful means. Your refusal to give NOC for the use of elements of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in our Netflix documentary might be justified by you from a copyright standpoint, but I wish to remind you that there is a moral side to it, which must be defended in the court of God."

She further expressed her disappointment in the open letter: "What's even more shocking is your legal notice after the release of the trailer of the Netflix documentary. We were startled to read those lines wherein you questioned the usage of some videos (just 3 seconds) which were shot on our personal devices and are already publicly available on social media. You claimed ₹10 crore as damages for the mere 3 seconds. This is an all-time low from you and speaks so much about your character."

Nayanthara criticized Dhanush's actions, contrasting them with the persona he projects in public: "I wish you were half the person you portray to be on stage at audio launches in front of your innocent fans, but clearly you do not practice what you preach-at least not for me and my partner."
