Nayanthara-Dhanush Controversy On Netflix Doc Not Over Yet As Kolaverdi Hitmaker Sends Legal Notice To Actress
Actor Dhanush has initiated a legal battle against Nayanthara, accusing her of using footage from his film "Naanum Rowdy Dhaan" in her Netflix documentary without permission.
The lawsuit, filed in the Madras High Court, also names Nayanthara's husband, filmmaker Vignesh Sivan, as a defendant. The court has asked Nayanthara to respond by the next hearing.
Legal Proceedings and Jurisdiction
Wunderbar Films, Dhanush's production company, has requested the Madras High Court to include Los Gatos Production Services India LLP in their lawsuit. This company is responsible for Netflix's content investments in India and is based in Mumbai. Wunderbar Films aims to bring Los Gatos under the jurisdiction of the Madras High Court alongside other defendants.

The judge has allowed the case to proceed after hearing both parties but refrained from commenting on the core issue. It was noted that Nayanthara, Vignesh Sivan, and Rowdy Pictures fall within the court's jurisdiction, as most of the events occurred there.
Nayanthara's Response
On November 16, Nayanthara publicly criticised Dhanush for sending her a legal notice demanding Rs 10 crore. She shared an open letter on Instagram explaining that she had sought Dhanush's permission to use visuals from "Naanum Rowdy Dhaan" for her Netflix documentary "Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale." Despite her request, Dhanush denied permission and issued a legal notice over behind-the-scenes footage usage.
In her statement, Nayanthara expressed frustration over the situation. She claimed that she had approached Dhanush during the documentary's production phase to seek approval for using clips from their 2015 film. However, instead of granting permission, he opted for legal action against her.
The dispute between these prominent figures in the Tamil film industry has garnered significant attention. As both sides prepare for further legal proceedings, fans and industry insiders are keenly observing how this conflict will unfold in court.
