Malayalam actor Rini George has accused a youth leader from a major political party of sending her inappropriate messages over the past three years. She also alleged that he invited her to a five-star hotel. Despite multiple complaints, she claims the party took no action. The actor has not revealed the name of the accused or his party affiliation.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kerala has pointed fingers at Congress MLA Rahul Mankoottil, staging protests outside his office in Palakkad district. However, neither Mr Mankoottil nor the Congress have issued official statements. Sources indicate that the party leadership is seeking a report on the matter.

Allegations and Inaction

In an online interview that gained significant attention, Ms George detailed her experience with the politician, whom she met through social media. She stated that his inappropriate conduct began three years ago when he first sent her objectionable messages. The actor claimed that despite her warnings, senior leaders ignored her complaints.

Ms George further alleged that the leader offered to book a room at a luxury hotel and invited her there. She expressed disappointment with how the party handled her complaints, noting that the young leader continued to receive important roles within the party despite her warnings.

Party's Response and Public Reaction

The BJP's allegations against Mr Mankoottil have led to public demonstrations demanding his resignation. During one protest outside his office in Palakkad, clashes occurred between BJP supporters and police officers attempting to disperse them.

Ms George said she is not filing an official complaint due to concerns for her safety and distrust in the justice system. She mentioned she does not want to embarrass the political party involved but felt compelled to speak out for other women allegedly targeted by this leader.

Support for Other Victims

"I have not suffered any assault; I only received these messages," Ms George clarified. "But through my friends, I learned that several other women faced harassment, and I am speaking up for them." Her decision to speak out aims to support those who might be afraid or unable to voice their experiences.

The accused reportedly dismissed Ms George's threats of escalating her complaints within the party hierarchy, allegedly saying, "You can go and tell anyone... who cares?" This response shattered Ms George's perception of the party's integrity.
