Madrasi OTT Release Update: Sivakarthikeyan-Starrer To Be Out On This Date

Sivakarthikeyan's highly anticipated action thriller Madrasi has failed to breach into Rs 100-crore mark at the box office.

Featuring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead alongside Rukmini Vasanth, "Madrasi" boasts a strong supporting cast including Vidyut Jammwal, who returns to Tamil cinema after his memorable villain role in "Thuppakki," as well as Biju Menon, Monisha Vijay, Vikranth, and Thalaivasal Vijay.

While critics have largely praised the film for its high-octane action sequences and performances, this positive reception has not translated into sustained audience turnout. The current trend suggests the film is struggling to hold its ground.

As per the trade the reports, it had collected Rs 71.45 crore (Nett) at the India box office.

OTT Release on the Cards

Typically, Tamil films maintain a 4 to 5-week window in theaters before moving to streaming platforms. Given the rapid decline in collections and the upcoming festive season, the makers have decided to release the movie during the upcoming festive season.

It was initially expected to debut online around October 5, the movie will be out on the digital platform on October 3. The digital rights for Madrasi have been acquired by Amazon Prime Video.

Earlier, it was reported that Zee5 had bagged the OTT rights. However, Zee TV holds the satellite rights.

AR Murugadoss-directed movie Madrasi has opened to fairly positive reviews. The movie has Sivakarthikeyan and Rukmini Vasanth in the leads.

Vidyut Jammwal, who had played the villain role in AR Murugadoss' Thuppakki, is returning to Kollywood with Madrasi. Biju Menon, Monisha Vijay, Vikranth, Shabeer Kallarakkal, Prem Kumar, Thalaivasal Vijay, Rishi Rithvik and others in the cast.
