Madhampatty Rangaraj Made Me Pregnant Without Divorcing His Wife: Joy Crizilda Tells Court

Celebrity stylist Joy Crizilda has levelled shocking allegations against Madhampatty Rangaraj, CEO of the popular catering brand Madhampatty Pakashala, during a court hearing at the Madras High Court on Thursday.

Appearing through Senior Advocate S. Prabakaran, Crizilda told the court that Rangaraj deceived her into a relationship by claiming that he was judicially separated from his wife. She said the two first met in July 2023 through a mutual friend and that Rangaraj assured her he was living separately and intended to marry her, according to a report in Live Law.

Crizilda claimed that after she obtained a divorce from her former husband, she married Rangaraj on December 24, 2023, in a ceremony attended by his friends and staff from his company. She further alleged that the businessman forced her to undergo two abortions following their marriage. When she became pregnant for the third time, she said Rangaraj physically assaulted her, leaving her with injuries, and subsequently cut off all communication.

It was only then, Crizilda said, that she discovered Rangaraj had not divorced his wife. She has since filed a police complaint.

The case arose after Madhampatty Pakashala approached the High Court against Crizilda, accusing her of making defamatory social media posts that allegedly harmed the company's goodwill. In response, Crizilda argued that her posts fell under permissible non-commercial, nominative use of the company's name in criticism and accused the company of attempting to shield its CEO from scrutiny.

The suit is not maintainable and the company has cited vague reasons for avoiding pre-suit mediation, her lawyer argued in court.

Meanwhile, Rangaraj has also filed a separate suit seeking to protect his personality rights. Justice N. Senthilkumar decided to club both cases together since they revolved around the same set of issues. The hearing has been adjourned to September 24.
