'Leo' 1st Day Box Office Collection (Tamil Nadu): Vijay-Starrer Becomes Biggest Kollywood Opener Of 2023
Thalapathy Vijay's much-hyped 'Leo', which was released on Thursday to a huge hype, is off to a flying start at the Tamil Nadu box office.
Despite the Tamil Nadu government denying permission to 4 am shows and permitting only five shows per day, 'Leo' has got a solid start in its home territory. Leading trade tracker Sreedhar Pillai said, "Despite all the release teething issues like fdfs in #TamilNadu especially #ChennaiCity & #Chengalpet over "playing terms" #LEO all set to take an earth shattering opening!"

Till the last minute, the advance booking had not started in Tamil Nadu due to issues between distributors and exhibitors. However, it did not prevent the movie from getting a great response for its advance booking.
"We opened last night and within 12 hrs of advance booking it has crossed 30K + tickets without any early morning show and is now among the Top 5 highest Pre Booked movies in our history!!! #Leo Kinggggu daaaa 😍😍😍 @actorvijay Anna," Rhevanth Charan, Director - Rohini Silver Screens, said on X.
Nikilesh Surya, who manages Rohini Silver Screens, further added, "Despite opening only 17 hours before the first show #Leo recorded a truly BADASS pre release sale of 31000 tickets just a thousand odd tickets of #Jailer (This years' best) @RohiniSilverScr Truly remarkable!!"
Similarly, Rakesh Gowthaman from Vettri Theatres said, "#LeoinVettri Dhool Dhamaka Advance Bookings 💥 Fastest ever tickets sales in #Vettri for #Thalapathy - 15k tickets in 2 hrs 🔥#LeoBookingsUpdate."
'Leo' 1st Day Box Office Collection
The early estimation coming from the trade sources say that Lokesh Kanagaraj's flick has minted over Rs 30 crore on the first day in Tamil Nadu. The movie has become the biggest opener of the year, beating the first-day collection of Rajinikanth's 'Jailer' which earned Rs 26.5 crore on day one.

'Leo' Collection In Andhra, Karnataka, Kerala
Not just in Tamil Nadu, the film has done exceptionally well in Andhra, Telangana, Kerala and Karnataka. Across the country, the movie is predicted to earn over Rs 30 crore to take its domestic total to Rs 60 crore on day one.
'Leo' At US Box Office
The Tamil flick has got a superb start in North America. It garnered US$1,798,707 [Rs 14.97cr] from 625 Locations. The movie has reportedly got a good start in the UK, Gulf, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia. The early estimates say that the movie has grossed over Rs 40 crore from the international market.
It means 'Leo' has minted over Rs 100 crore on the first day at the worldwide box office, thereby becoming the biggest opener of all-time in Kollywood, beating Rajinikanth's 2.0 (Rs 93 crore), 'Jailer' (Rs 90 crore) and 'Kabali' (Rs 88 crore).
However, these are the estimated figures and not the official numbers given by the production house.
