Karuppu Movie Review: What's Good, What's Bad In Suriya's Film?

Suriya's much-awaited movie Karuppu (Veera Bhadrudu in Telugu) has hit the screens after facing last-minute issues. The movie is written and directed by RJ Balaji.

Produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, the film has Trisha Krishnan in the female lead while director RJ Balaji himself will appear in a key role. Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika, Sshivada, Supreeth Reddy and Yogi Babu are part of the cast.

The film has Sai Abhyankkar's music, G. K. Vishnu's cinematography and R. Kalaivanan's editing.

In a rural community plagued by systemic oppression, a determined lawyer rises to champion the rights of the marginalized. The protagonist draws strength from the village deity, Karuppasamy, invoking divine protection as he confronts powerful adversaries.

The narrative intertwines legal drama with mythic undertones, creating a powerful clash between law, faith, and brute force.

The trailer and promos have created a lot of positive buzz around the movie. Will it live up to the viewers' expectations?

First half is whacky and hooks you as it a hard -hitting take on how the judiciary functions in a city lower court. Second half is "God mode", like a template super hero taking on the corrupt system using his supernatural powers.

@Suriya_offl in the title role fits the bill perfectly as a man with divine power who controls his rage in the beginning and goes full blast towards the end.

@RJ_Balaji is riveting and steals the thunder as dirty unscrupulous lawyer Baby Kannan. Indrans & Natty are perfectly cast while
@trishtrashers playing an upright lawyer shines especially in the big judgement day scene. Lots of Thalapathy Vijay references adds zest to the proceedings.

On the whole a decent time pass fun entertainer.

Forum Reelz: #Karuppu starts off with a decent first half and then explodes with a goosebumps interval sequence that sets the theatre on fire 🔥 Sai rocked those portions. The second half is engaging and packed with whistle-worthy moments that keep the energy alive throughout. The climax was superb and ended the movie on a high note. There are also some references in the film, and they worked very well. While a few scenes feel routine, the overall package delivers good entertainment and plenty of fan moments. A proper theatrical mass film that is best enjoyed with an energetic crowd and loud celebrations.

What The Fuss: #Karuppu Review:

A madcap mass entertainer on the lines of GBU, yet far from GBU, is Karuppu. The premise has seriousness to it, and the first half is handled with the same seriousness. Once the god mode is unleashed towards the interval, it becomes a madcap ride from there. There are lots of yesteryear movie references, both from Suriya's own films and other heroes' movies. Particularly the ones after god mode make theatres go berserk. After this, the movie gets stuck in the same gear and struggles to move forward, but it is revived again by a theatre pleasing climax.

#Suriya literally sets the screen on fire as Karuppu. His body language and dialogue delivery are commanding. #TrishaKrishnan gets a neat role and does her part well. RJB, as the antagonist, is pretty good. He adds fun elements with his brand of villainy, which is enjoyable to watch. Indrans is superb in his short role. He holds the emotional part of the first thirty minutes very well.

On the technical side, #SaiAbhyankar rules the roost with his background score. There are a few mixing issues, but he still elevates Karuppu in the mass scenes effectively. GK Vishnu's cinematography is solid. The action choreography is a bit over the top, but logic is out of the equation here since our protagonist is not a normal human being.

Finally, RJB knows the theatre audience's pulse very well. He has played to the gallery in the second half without overthinking and has delivered good entertainment in the form of Karuppu.

Movie Tamil: #Karuppu - Review

The first half was superb, but compared to that, the second half has even more surprises. There are twists in the film that no one would expect. #Suriya appears in a few different looks throughout the movie, and all of them look impressive. The scenes where he appears as #Karuppuswamy are an absolute blast on screen.

The story revolves around how Karuppuswamy delivers justice to someone who was denied justice by the High Court. Director #RJBalaji has packed the film with plenty of mass elements. #GKVishnu's cinematography style and #SaiAbhyankkar's background score work really well. G.K. Vishnu's use of the red color tone stands out beautifully.

#Trisha plays an important role in the film. There are also references to Suriya's earlier films and a few other movie references. RJ Balaji has done a solid job overall - whether in his acting scenes or the comedy portions, he performs really well.

A few scenes could have been trimmed, but the pre-climax and climax are both excellent. The last 30 minutes are a complete blast. The film is filled with mass moments and has plenty for Suriya fans to celebrate in theatres.

Sathish Kumar M: #Karuppu kicks off with some really emotional scenes and a wonderful performance by Indrans. Then, 40 minutes in, #Suriya makes his entrance and absolutely owns the screen! His mass presence and the incredible fight scenes build up to a brilliant interval block. The second half takes a slightly different path but still manages to end well with surprises that will definitely satisfy fans. Overall, it's a decent entertainer and a huge treat for Suriya fans, with Sai Abhyankar's BGM really helping the mass scenes land perfectly
