Rishab Shetty's Kantara: A Legend - Chapter 1 (popularly called Kantara 2) has opened to a phenomenal response at the Indian box office. Riding high on hype, positive word-of-mouth, and strong advance bookings, the film delivered a massive ₹60 crore nett opening on Day 1, marking one of the biggest starts for a Kannada film nationwide.

The buzz around the movie picked up momentum right from its special premiere shows on Wednesday evening, and the glowing audience reactions set the tone for a record-breaking Thursday release.

If the premiere show business is taken into account, the Rishab Shetty-starrer has easily earned over Rs 75 crore on the first day.

Hubballi (84.75%): While the morning shows were on the lower side at 46%, the film picked up drastically post-noon, hitting 97-100% occupancy in evening and night shows.

Mangaluru (89.00%): The coastal city responded enthusiastically, with strong afternoon and evening shows touching 96-97%.

Kalaburagi & Belagavi (75-76% range): These regions started dull in the morning with only 36-43% occupancy but stabilized by afternoon, hitting near-full houses. Word-of-mouth seems to be playing a crucial role in these cities.

Mysuru (95.25%): One of the best-performing centers, Mysuru witnessed extraordinary response right from the morning (95%) and carried that energy till night with 98% occupancy.

Shivamogga & Kundapura (99% each): These towns emerged as breakout markets with near-total occupancy throughout the day. Shows went houseful in advance, proving the craze Kantara 2 enjoys in smaller towns.

Tumakuru, Manipal, and Raichur (94-96% range): These regions too performed spectacularly, with evening and night shows closing at 100%.

Hyderabad (89.50%): Though outside Karnataka, Hyderabad recorded a solid start with high occupancy in the evening and night shows, fueled by Shetty's growing fan base in Telugu states.

Mumbai (57.25%): The only weak link in the opening day. The film managed modest collections here with a 31% morning start, climbing slightly to 65-69% by evening. Despite the underwhelming occupancy, the sheer strength of Karnataka pulled the film to a gigantic nationwide opening.
