Item Song From Puri Jagannath's 'Double iSmart' In Trouble, BRS Leader Files Complaint

Puri Jagannadh's new song 'Maar Muntha Chod Chinta' from the upcoming Ram Pothineni-starrer 'Double iSmart' is facing controversy shortly after its release.

Senior BRS leader Rajitha Reddy has filed a complaint against the director and his team for using a phrase spoken by former Chief Minister and BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao.

The complaint, lodged with the police, alleges that the phrase "Em cheddam antav mari? (What do you think we should do?)" is used indecently in the song, which is disrespectful to the former CM.

Reddy has called for action against Puri, asserting that the song intends to show Rao in a poor light. The cops are currently investigating the matter, reported Hindustan Times.

'Maar Muntha Chod Chinta' was released on July 16 as the second song from "Double iSmart," following "Steppa Maar."

The lyrics, penned by Kasarla Shyam, incorporate typical Hyderabadi slang fitting Ram's character in the film.

Composed by Mani Sharma, the song features vocals from Rahul Sipligunj, Dhanunjan Seepana, and Keerthana Sharma, and also features Kavya Thapar.

'Double iSmart,' produced by Puri and Charmme Kaur under their Puri Connects banner, is set to release on August 15.

The film, a sequel to the 2019 hit 'iSmart Shankar,' stars Sanjay Dutt in his Telugu debut alongside Ram Pothineni.

The previous film, which starred Nabha Natesh, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Satyadev, was a box office success but faced criticism for its misogynistic themes and unconventional storytelling.
